In recent days, 4JET Technologies GmbH, a company specializes in processing precise technical surfaces of laser system, has just produced a new laser marking process that can mark a datamatrix code in tire sidewalls. The marking has a distinct and permanent QR (quick response) code, so it can be read by most smartphone camera applications, such as Android and iPhone.

This new technology helps the tire industry to trace the tires and establish contact with their customers. Most of all, it abandons the disadvantages of conventional codes, such as the finite lifespan, not-special marking, specific demand for hardware and so on. This solution can link the codes to the CRM (customer relationship management) database directly, which is more convenient and efficient.
